A GREAT Gift Idea for the Locomotive & Railway Enthusiast (as well as Stamp Collector) and Ideal For Framing. A 22.5 x 32.7 cms Complete Sheet of 50 Stamps of the 1913 LNWR Sir Gilbert Claughton 4-6-0 comprising 25 se-tenant pairs of two genuine 1984 MINT/UNUSED 60c stamps from St Vincent in the West Indies (Issued 16th April 1984). The first stamp illustrates the technical / plan drawings and the second stamp shows the locomotive at work. The scans below show (i) a close up of the stamps and (ii) the complete sheet for sale. The stamps are 33 years old but are in pristine unmounted mint condition. The sheet would make an ideal present for the L&NWR / Claughton Class / Crewe Steam Locomotive Enthusiast and is ideal for framing.
No. 2222 Sir Gilbert Claughton was the prototype of a notable class of 130 express passenger locomotives built between 1913 and 1921 by the London and North Western Railway (L&NWR) (Designed by C. J. Bowen-Cooke and built at the LNWR Crewe Works). Unfortunately, none of the Claughtons were preserved.
