DESCRIPTION
Striking vintage West German blown glass Christmas ornament measuring approximately 4 inches.
This unusual oversized ornament features a bold geometric patchwork design in jewel-tone red, green, gold and silver. The individual colored panels are separated by molded/ribbed borders, giving the ornament a distinctive dimensional, almost quilted appearance.
The metal cap is marked WEST GERMANY, and the ornament retains its wonderful original East Bay Nursery retail tag, marked $2.75 EACH. The surviving store tag is an especially nice piece of vintage retail provenance.
The combination of its large size, saturated jewel-tone colors, reflective finish and unusual geometric design gives this ornament a fantastic Mid-Century Christmas look. It displays beautifully and is quite different from the more commonly encountered round striped or floral German ornaments.
Vintage condition with expected age-related wear, including scratches, spotting, oxidation and areas of finish/color loss. Please see all photographs for the best representation of condition and details.
