The Tomoe crest tsuba leads the look of this wakizashi, set between black cotton ito and a black piano-lacquered saya. Its 21-inch blade is 1045 carbon steel folded to a Damascus pattern, hand forged and clay tempered, with a smooth face and no bo-hi, so the wave grain shows clearly. Sharp, full tang, fully disassemblable, with a Certificate of Authenticity.

• Folded 1045 Damascus steel, clay tempered. Hand forged and folded, the 21-inch blade shows a visible wave grain (jihada). 52–54 HRC at the edge holds a hand-sharpened edge while a 48–50 HRC spine absorbs shock. The blade is left smooth, with no bo-hi.
• Full tang, fully disassemblable. The tang runs the full length of the handle and is secured with two mekugi pegs, so the sword can be taken apart for cleaning and reassembled. A Certificate of Authenticity is included.
• Tomoe crest tsuba. A Tomoe crest guard matching the katana version of this sword.

  Suited to light cutting practice such as rolled tatami omote, soft mats and water-filled bottles, where permitted by local law. Not intended for hard targets such as metal, stone or seasoned hardwood. The blade can rust if left wet: wipe it dry after handling and apply a light coat of sword oil before storing.

  Yes. Remove the mekugi pegs and the handle, tsuba and fittings come off for cleaning, then reassemble in reverse order.
