by Cyprien Tokoudagba
Limited Edition #33/500
Offered here is an exceptional and highly collectible pâte de verre glass sculpture created by renowned Beninese artist Cyprien Tokoudagba in collaboration with Daum France.
This striking piece represents the “Panther Deity” (Dieu de la Panthère), a powerful figure rooted in African Vodun art and spirituality, traditionally associated with protection of the royal lineage in Benin. The sculpture embodies deep Benin royal symbolism, where the panther serves as a sacred guardian and emblem of strength and authority.
This work is part of a unique museum-level artistic collaboration between Daum France and Cyprien Tokoudagba, blending traditional African cultural heritage with the refined craftsmanship of French art glass.
Crafted using the ancient and highly skilled pâte de verre technique, the sculpture features a rich translucent amethyst-purple tone with a soft, granular texture that enhances its sculptural presence and depth.
The figure is expressive and stylized, with strong visual character and cultural significance, making it both an important artistic statement and a rare collector’s piece.
