An excellent, vintage and increasingly rare set of 4 “pate de verre” glass Christmas ornaments from Daum France in the original special edition 4-pack box. The set was issued to highlight the variety of shapes and colors these were originally issued in. Each ornament is clearly stamped with the year of issue (ranging from 1989 to 1996) and each is etched with the trademark “Daum France” either on the rear or on the edge. The glass on each of these is in superb condition: no nicks, breaks, chips or repairs. Daum glass manufacture includes bubble marks, some color variations, but apart from these there is no visible evidence of any physical damage or misuse in the glass. Two of the ornaments do not have the original cloth ribbon used to hang the ornaments; 2 have the original ribbon. These ribbons are functional for purpose but are well used, discolored, with creases and folds.Additional comments on each ornament:1989: This the “leaf and berry” design, does not include the original ribbon.1991: Fabulous pair of mourning doves with leaves. This has the original Daum ribbon which is well used as noted above.1994: Superb 3-dimensional cherub with colors ranging from amber to purple. This also has the original Daum cloth ribbon in fair condition as noted above.1996: Two children dressed up in traditional winter clothing happily sledding. This does not have the original cloth ribbon. The Box: The box is in good functional condition for storage purposes but in poor cosmetic condition: there are multiple scuff marks, areas where packing tape was used to secure for shipment. But there are no major tears or holes, the corners are still in good shape, and the box suitable for continued storage.
