Offered here is an original antiqueK.P.E.V. locomotive ownership plaque from the Royal Prussian State Railways, dating from the Imperial German period.
This substantial cast brass plaque features the crownedPrussian eaglecarrying the traditional scepter and orb, with the raised initialsK.P.E.V.beneath.
The abbreviation K.P.E.V. is traditionally associated with theKöniglich Preußische Eisenbahn-Verwaltung, or Royal Prussian Railway Administration, and plaques of this type were used as ownership insignia on Prussian railway locomotives and rolling stock.
This example represents theearlier K.P.E.V. eagle pattern, characterized by its broad crowned eagle, distinctive breast shield and finely ribbed horizontal background. This design is generally associated with the earlier late-19th-century K.P.E.V. pattern introduced during the expansion of the Prussian state railway system.
The plaque retains its original four mounting holes and deeply recessed cast reverse, both characteristic of period locomotive fittings.
The raised eagle and lettering remain exceptionally attractive, with a strong contrast between the polished high points and darker aged background.

Very good antique condition considering its age and original railway use.
The plaque shows authentic age-related patina, surface wear, scratches, minor edge marks and mounting wear. The raised eagle, crown, royal regalia and K.P.E.V. lettering remain very well defined.
The reverse retains substantial original oxidation and patination consistent with long-term age and use.
