This is a listing for an Antique 1838 Medal Commemorating the End of Slavery / Emancipation West Indies
Found in my Grandfather's attic, where it has been stored and unused for many years.
In very good all around condition for its age.Took plenty of photos so you can see the item clearly.

Obverse legend given as: reads "WE ARE MEN AND BRETHREN,"Reverse legend: "THEIR NAMES SHALL BE SACRED IN THE MEMORY OF THE JUST," with names in a palm wreath: Penn, Gran. Sharp, Wilberforce, Benezet, Clarkson, Brougham, Sturge, SligoAdocumented example of this medalis held in the collection of the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich (part of Royal Museums Greenwich).
