Up for sale is a beautiful, matching pair of antique religious devotional textile art panels, most likely dating from the late Victorian to Art Deco eras (circa 1910–1935). These intricate handmade pieces are characteristic of European/Mediterranean \"convent work\" or regional Orthodox and Catholic folk art.
Each piece is hand-stitched onto a rich, plush black velvet backing:
- Panel 1 (Left): Features the traditional Christian Theological Virtues symbol, intricately combining the Cross (Faith), the Anchor (Hope), and the Heart (Charity), bordered by a colorful multi-line geometric thread frame with metallic accents and sequins.
- Panel 2 (Right): Features an Orthodox/Byzantine-inspired gradient Cross with radiating metallic wire light beams and sequin embellishments.
Condition:
Good antique condition with beautiful, authentic aging. The metallic purl wire embroidery, sequins, and glass beadwork remain remarkably intact with wonderful patina. As unframed textile panels, there is some expected minor fraying along the raw outer fabric edges and light flattening of the velvet pile consistent with age (approx. 100 years old). Please review all high-resolution photos carefully to evaluate the exact condition
