Traditional French playing cards are unique because every court face card represents a specific historical, mythical, or biblical figure, with their names printed directly on the cards:

• King of Diamonds: César (Julius Caesar, representing the Roman Empire).

• Queen of Diamonds: Rachel (A biblical figure from the Book of Genesis, symbolizing piety).

• King of Spades: David (The biblical King David, hero of Israel).

Queen of Clubs: Argine (An anagram of Regina, Latin for Queen; often linked to Juno).

• French Ace Indices: Notice that the Aces do not feature an "A." Instead, they are marked with a "1", which is the classic indexing system native to historic French card decks.

• this pack is a full 52 card  boxed set dating from the 1920's with faded gold tone edges
