Vintage photographic negative showing New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad electric passenger equipment associated with the Providence, Warren & Bristol Railroad in Providence, Rhode Island, circa 1933.
The Providence, Warren & Bristol was a distinctive New Haven-operated suburban railroad serving Providence, East Providence, Riverside, Barrington, Warren and Bristol, with connecting service toward Fall River. The route was electrified and operated unusual heavy-duty electric passenger cars combining characteristics of conventional railroad equipment with overhead electric operation.
This image shows a close three-quarter view of one of the older wooden passenger cars, with excellent detail of the end vestibule, windows, coupler and underframe equipment.
Circa 1933, placing the photograph near the end of the PW&B\'s electric passenger era. Electric service was reduced during the early 1930s and ended in 1934, making photographs of the equipment from this period especially interesting historically.
Negative measures approximately 3.5 x 2.5 inches.
Vintage photographic negative with age-related handling wear, light scratches, dust/specks and other surface imperfections as shown. Image remains clear with good railroad detail. Please examine photographs carefully for exact condition. Slight smell due to age.
The negative is offered as a vintage photographic negative. Unless additional provenance establishes otherwise, no representation is made that it is the photographer\'s original camera negative rather than an early-generation or period copy negative.
A desirable image for collectors of the New Haven Railroad, Providence Warren & Bristol Railroad, Rhode Island railroad history, New England electric railways, traction equipment and vintage railroad photography.
