Owner-identified 1942 Zippo black crackle windproof lighter with an applied gold-tone U.S. Army Chemical Corps insignia. The owner reports a four-barrel hinge and 14-hole chimney. This Chemical Corps Zippo is a military Zippo subject for an insignia or military memorabilia display, not evidence of military issue or service history. Heavy black finish loss exposes silver-tone metal along the edges, sides and large patches of the lid. Brown discoloration is visible around the emblem and chimney. The removed insert has pronounced dents and uneven surfaces with a discolored bottom pad protruding at the lower edge. The photographed case and insert are included as found and unrestored. Parts appear original in the owner's assessment only; component originality and military provenance are not authenticated. Fuel and lighting function have not been tested. Metal case, insert and applied insignia; exact alloys are unverified. United States origin is supplied by the owner source, not authenticated by a readable origin stamp. One photographed lighter comprising case and insert is included; no box is pictured. The owner wording "horizontal chimney" remains unresolved and is not replaced with a different feature. Insert views show the perforated chimney, ridged flint wheel, raised cam assembly, folded discolored bottom pad and slotted flint-spring screw. The front has a raised gold-tone Chemical Corps emblem over worn black crackle texture.
