Traditional Yixing / Zisha Style
Yixing teapots are closely associated with China's traditional tea culture and are prized for their distinctive unglazed Zisha clay construction, compact forms and use in Gongfu-style tea preparation.
The collectible market varies considerably depending upon clay, craftsmanship, provenance and the individual potter. Current examples range from relatively inexpensive modern pieces to several hundred dollars for individually marketed handmade and signed examples. One current Yixing Zisha teapot is offered at $269, while a new handmade gift-boxed Zisha example is offered at $114.
Your piece has an especially attractive presentation. The teapot is accompanied by an elaborate red satin drawstring pouch with gold lining and cords, which fits inside a substantial red-and-gold fabric-covered presentation box.
The engraved Chinese characters and the seal/maker mark visible on the underside of the lid add additional interest for collectors. I have photographed these markings so buyers can evaluate them for themselves.
I am selling this teapot solely because I am downsizing my storage and reducing my personal collection.
