This exquisite Windstone Editions sculpture is calledWizard Cat Candle Lamp (#2008). Its creationwas finalized and copyrighted by Melody Peña in 1999, with its primary retail production run taking off right around 2000.
This highly sought aftersculpture was designed as a dual-purpose piece. It isboth a candle holder (the cat's glass eyes and clear crystal orb held in one of its paws glow from an inner votive candle) and thecauldron functions as a cone incense burner.
Craftedusing flexible-mold gypsum casting (a dense, hard form of reinforced plaster), it is meticulously hand-painted and highlighted with arich, metallic-toned (Copper/Bronze Patina) paint style giving it an ancient “stone” appearance.
Measuring approximately 10 1/2” tall, 6 3/4” wide and 6 1/2” deep, it is in excellent vintage preowned condition with no chips, cracks, restorations or visible wear.On the base is the original protective felt (still intact) and it is stamped "Windstone Editions, North Hollywood, California". Included is the originalPeña/Windstone hang tag (shows some wear) and pewterincense burner cup.The original clear glass votive candle holder is not included as my daughter preferred using a red glass holder which I have included. A standard, straight-sided clear glass votive cup found at any local craft store will easily slide right into the candle seat behind the cat.
