‘The French are verygood with leather and canvas. It has to be said, and credit where credit’s due,our Gallic cousins have made some of the best bits its of kit that have evergraced a uniform, and their civvie stuff is also top notch with some superiorrucksacks and bags, and often they have that certain flair that we Brits seemunwilling to incorporate in our kit. I’ve used my old French respirator satchelfor donkey’s years and have never been let down by its design or build. Sadly,it’s time to be rid of me old accoutrements, for no longer do I go a roaming.Instead, these days, I’m stuck to the three wheeled rollator - that said I’vean old motorcycle engine in the garage and hope to rig something up!! There’slife in this old bugger yet !!’

CONDITION: Generallygood, as with all our collections, we’ve kept it clean and serviceable. Thereare no nasty whiffs or bad staining.
There is the expectedage-related wear and tear but nothing awful. For some reason a small hole hasbeen punched into the leather tab on the front of the lid – not sure why.
TO conclude: A nattybit of kit, nicely marked with a wartime date. Good for display or light usage.
