This pair were purchased several years ago but never used.These Woodpecker brand phenolic clamping cauls are a modern version of a thousand year old woodworking trick, using a pair of slightly cambered boards on both sides of a panel being glued to keep the panel flat. These phenolic clamping cauls are stiffer than wood making them an advantage over wood cauls that often flex too much and don\'t put the necessary squeeze on the boards. In addition, because the cauls are phenolic they are resistant to most wood glues to avoid accidentally glueing the cauls to your project.

Woodpecker\'s phenolic clamping cauls have the camber machined into the cauls and are calculated to exert 255 lbs of force when they are clamped straight.

Possible uses and advantages are:

• gluing flat panels
  
• multiply the efforts of traditional clamp
  
• put pressure on points regular clamps just can\'t reach
  
• engineered to provide 225 lbs uniform pressure when the camber is straightened between two clamps at the ends
  
• these clamping cauls will save hours of planning or sanding, making a flat panel and of desired dimension.
  
• a pair of clamping cauls and two bar clamps can replace a 4 to 8 bar clamps (run the cauls along the outside of your assembly with clamps at each end). The camber takes the place of all the clamps you would normally put in the middle of the panel
  

Woodpecker clamping caulsare machined from 3/4\" thick phenolic the same indestructible material used for premium router tables. Will not warp, twist or crack due to age, use or weather fluctuations. Please note; this pair is marketed as 48” but actually measure 47.5”.
