The Queen Anne style, popular in the U.S. from about 1880 to 1910, is characterized by elegant, often simple glass designs with ribbed or molded patterns, substantial bases for stability, and tall glass chimneys to protect the flame and improve light output. These parlor lanterns were designed for indoor use, often placed in living rooms or halls, and were essential household lighting before electricity.
This particular one is hand painted floral pattern and a gold/orangish color. The bottom has an ornate cast iron base. The wick dial does work freely and is in good condition along with being marked "No. 2 Queen Anne"
It stands approximately 16 1/2" tall with the widest part of the base being approximately 6.5" in diameter. The base measures5 x 5 1/4".
