Antique Western Electric 634A Subscriber Set (Metal Ringer Box)
**Era:** Late 1920s / 1930s (Pre-1940)
**Origin:** Made in U.S.A.
Up for sale is an original, authentic Western Electric Model 634A "Subset" anti-sidetone ringer box. During the early desktop telephone era, telephones like the Western Electric 102 and 202 required these external heavy metal housings to contain the network's induction coils, capacitors, and bell mechanisms.
This unit is an ideal candidate for an antique use and display piece.
**Key Visual & Collectible Features:**
* Authentic crisp red/orange "634A" stamp clearly visible on the internal mechanics.
* Clean "MADE IN U.S.A." stamped lettering preserved on the exterior metal chassis.
* Retains its original fabric/cloth-covered cords featuring classic metal terminal spade stays.
* Original dual-brass bell ringer assembly, coil brackets, and internal structural framing remain intact.
**Condition Details (Tested/ Working/ Crisp Dial Movement/ As-Is):**
* **Exterior:** The heavy metal black painted casing displays a nice, honest vintage patina with minor dust, edge scuffs, and tiny paint nicks consistent with an item near a century old. No deep structural dents or modifications.
* **Interior:** Complete and mechanically sound. Minimal localized surface oxidation present on some of the raw internal brackets, but the internal layout remains remarkably undisturbed and clean. Cords show expected vintage fading but remain stable.
Please thoroughly review the provided high-resolution photos to verify the exact cosmetic state and internal configuration of this wonderful piece of American telecom history.
