Vintage Corn Palace Stampede belt buckle from Mitchell, South Dakota, featuring a detailed Western rodeo scene with a mounted cowboy and horses.
The front features raised “Corn Palace” and “Stampede” lettering, a detailed horse-and-rider rodeo scene, decorative scrollwork, and “Mitchell South Dakota” around the bottom.
The back contains several original information plaques. The buckle is marked “16th Annual Rodeo Limited Edition” and is numbered No. 272 of 300.
Another plaque states that the buckle was made exclusively for the Corn Palace Stampede. The back also includes a Corn Palace Stampede Committee plaque.
The buckle comes in the presentation box shown in the photographs.
This is a very interesting piece of vintage rodeo and South Dakota memorabilia and would make a nice addition to a vintage belt buckle collection, rodeo collection, Western memorabilia collection, or Corn Palace collection.
The buckle has a dark antiqued silver-tone appearance with raised lettering and detailed relief work.
The center date on the front is shown clearly in the photographs. Because of the wear and lighting, I recommend using the photographs as the final reference for the date.
Approximate size: 4 1/2\" wide x 3 1/2\" tall.
Please consider the measurements approximate because of the oval condition with age-related wear, patina and surface marks. The information plaques on the back show considerable age-related wear and discoloration, but the wording and limited-edition number are visible.
Please examine all photographs carefully, including the front, back and close-up pictures, as the photographs are an important part of the description.
The buckle is being sold as a vintage metal belt buckle. I am not identifying it as sterling silver or solid gold.
