This is a vintage mechanical "secret" tabletop coin bank, shaped like a stylized shell, bullet, or dome. In the USSR, such items served a dual purpose: utilitarian (saving coins) and decorative (adorning a desk as a paperweight or office souvenir).• Country and location: USSR, Ukrainian SSR, Kyiv. Such small-batch souvenir items were often produced by Kyiv instrument-making or mechanical plants—or industrial cooperative enterprises—as consumer goods in limited quantities.• Exact date: 1964, evidenced by the original hand-engraved inscription on the body in russian: "To Masha from Nikolai on March 8th. Kyiv – 1964."• Materials: The dome is made of stamped alloy (likely brass or steel) with a mirror-like nickel or chrome finish. The shaped baluster-style stem and stepped square base are made of molded carbolite (an early Soviet form of Bakelite) or a similar Bakelite-type plastic.
