Vintage Hand Carved 20\" Wood Folk Art Statue European Pig-Headed Humanoid Peruvian(Andean) heritage. Impressive! Approx.5.5\"L x 5.25\"W x 20.25\"H. Dressed in a satirical colonial periodstyle with exaggerated proportions, an expressive stance and rustic style. A substantial carving with visible hand tool marks and a strong physicalpresence. Hand painted solid wood. Providence is unknown: is an estate sale find from a well-traveled military officer.

Note: theEuropean pig represents a complex blend of colonial imposition, new economic realities, and paradoxically, a symbol of abundance and prosperity.

This carving is in very good vintage primitive condition. A chip in the wood behind the right ear and a small chip at the base of the right foot. There are several places around the base which don\'t appear to be chips or missing finish, but I\'m including pictures and pointing it out to be transparent (see pic). Faded colors and wear to be expected with a natural vintage piece. Otherwise, this primitive statue is in excellent condition for its age. No signature. Smoke-free home.

See my other Must Have wood carving from the same estate sale listed separately. I try to be as transparent as possible and have 100% positive response. Please ask all questions before offerding and review the pictures as they are part of the description.
