This example is particularly interesting because it lists four Sam’s Cafe locations in Dallas and Phoenix, including the prestigious 100 Crescent Court location at McKinney and Maple in Dallas:
100 Crescent Court, Dallas — [phone removed by ]
8411 Preston Road / Preston Center, Dallas — [phone removed by ]
455 N. 3rd Street / Arizona Center, Phoenix — [phone removed by ]
2566 E. Camelback Road / Biltmore Fashion Park, Phoenix — [phone removed by ]
Period restaurant guides confirm Sam’s Cafe operating at Crescent Court by the early 1990s and document both Dallas locations by 1995. Contemporary reviews described Sam’s as a Southwestern-style grill serving inventive regional dishes rather than traditional Tex-Mex.
The Crescent, which opened in 1986, became one of Dallas’s signature Uptown developments and an important office, hotel, retail and restaurant destination. This matchbook therefore represents both Dallas restaurant history and an early period in the development of modern Uptown Dallas.
Large format matchbook retains its original matches and has an understated cream-and-black Sam’s Cafe design. Interior printing is especially attractive and clearly identifies all four locations.
Please review photographs for condition, age-related toning and minor edge wear.
A scarce-looking Dallas restaurant advertising piece from one of the city’s most recognizable addresses.
