Wonderful vintage W.C. Fields caricature figurine featuring the legendary comedian in his signature top hat, formal black suit, vest, watch chain and cane.This hand-painted figure stands on a distinctive red rectangular base with raised gold-tone “W C FIELDS” lettering across the front. The rear of the base is hand-marked “144”; the significance of this number is unknown. The underside of the base is covered in older felt.The piece appears to be vintage hand-painted chalkware/plaster, likely dating to the mid-to-late 20th century. No visible manufacturer’s mark has been located, so I am listing the maker as unknown rather than attributing it to a particular company.CONDITION:
Good vintage condition with wear consistent with age. There is paint/finish loss on the tip of W.C. Fields’ nose, exposing some of the darker material underneath. The nose appears to retain its overall original shape; however, there may be a small/shallow surface chip in this area, so please refer closely to the detailed photograph.There is also paint loss/chipping along portions of the red base, particularly around the corners and edges, as well as minor surface wear and variations in the hand-painted finish throughout.No restoration, repainting or touch-up has been attempted.
