DescriptionEmbrace the beauty of intentional imperfection with this striking hand-thrown studio pottery chawan (tea bowl). Masterfully shaped on the wheel, its form features a rich, deep Tenmoku-style iron brown underglaze that cascades down the body. The dramatic, frothy cream and blue drip glaze acts like sea foam breaking along the organic rim, highlighting the artisan's control over the kiln fire.A substantial unglazed ring foot anchors the piece, revealing the gritty, natural stoneware clay beneath and providing an excellent, tactile grip for traditional matcha preparation. Imprinted directly onto the foot is a clear "ME" maker's mark, verifying its authentic origin as a uniquely crafted studio art piece. Whether utilized as a focal point for tea ceremonies or displayed as a mid-century modern accent, this vessel brings a serene, grounding warmth to any collection.6" across opening3" high
