Item Description:
For your consideration is an exceptional, authentic hand-carved Northwest Coast-style ceremonial Raven Rattle by renowned Northwest artisan carver Rich (Richard) LaValle.
This beautifully executed polychrome piece showcases meticulous formline artistry. The top of the rattle features the classic reclining shaman figure atop a stylized raven body, while the underbelly displays an intricately carved hawk/sea monster (Gunakadeit) motif alongside a beautifully rendered green spirit frog at the handle base. The rattle is signed by the artist with his traditional incised "LAVALLE" signature directly on the circular bottom of the handle.
Condition Details:
This vintage piece is in overall very good cosmetic condition and displays wonderfully. The original black, deep red, and blue-green pigments remain exceptionally vibrant and crisp.

Please note there is a small, superficial hairline split running horizontally along the lower wood flange/edge of the rattle body (clearly documented in the final close-up photo). This is a natural aging characteristic common to seasoned cedar/alder tribal carvings and does not compromise the structural integrity of the piece.

Minor natural wood grain variations and faint handling wear present as expected with age.
