Vintage Reed & Barton silver soldered covered serving pitcher/creamer with an attached underplate, originally made for the Grace Line steamship company. This unusual piece of maritime serviceware features a hinged lid, curved handle, pouring spout, and permanently attached oval underplate.
The underside is marked “REED & BARTON SILVER SOLDERED 6L72-S 22.” The original “GRACE LINE” ownership marking has been intentionally struck/obliterated, but the lettering remains legible beneath the cancellation marks. The number 22 is also stamped inside the hinged lid.
An unusual piece of Reed & Barton commercial silverware with identifiable Grace Line maritime history.
Measures approximately 4.5” tall and 6” from the tip of the spout to the outer edge of the handle. The attached underplate measures approximately 5” x 6”.
This piece is being offered in its existing, unpolished condition and displays substantial age-related patina and tarnish, along with spotting, surface scratches, discoloration, and general wear consistent with previous use and age. We have intentionally left the existing patina intact rather than aggressively polishing the piece.
This is a preowned vintage item and may show additional signs of previous use and age, including scratches, scuffs, marks, discoloration, tarnish, patina, and other age-related imperfections. Please review all photos carefully for overall condition and details, as they are considered part of the description.
