Vintage Peruvian Inca Andean Folk Art Repoussé Metal & Wood Picture Frame
Striking vintage Peruvian picture frame featuring elaborate Inca/Andean-inspired folk art imagery worked in raised, embossed/repoussé metal over a dark wood frame.
The frame features a dramatic stepped architectural top with a central stylized Indigenous/Inca figure, along with detailed figures, animals and geometric motifs throughout the surrounding metalwork. The aged metal has developed a beautiful dark, dimensional patina that gives the piece wonderful character.
The decorative metal appears to be hammered/embossed copper-tone sheet metal applied over a substantial wood frame, with individually fitted construction visible along the sides and back. Based on its style and construction, it is believed to be a mid-to-late 20th century Peruvian artisan-made piece, although no maker's mark or date has been located.
Measurements: approximately 17" tall × 12" wide × 1" deep. The opening accommodates approximately an 8" × 10" photograph or artwork.
The back retains multiple small rotating metal tabs for securing the photograph/backing. There is also an aged felt protective strip along a portion of the edge.
Condition: Good vintage condition with age-appropriate patina, oxidation, surface wear, rubbing to the wood finish, and some small areas of separation/irregularity along the edges consistent with its handmade construction and age. The original glass is missing and is not included. Please review all photographs closely, as they are considered part of the condition description.
