Vintage Pair of Chinese-Style Bronze Qilin/Kylin Mythical Beast Figures
Offered is a matching pair of highly detailed Asian mythical beast figures, traditionally associated with the Chinese Qilin (Kylin) — an auspicious legendary creature combining features of a dragon and other mythical animals.
Both figures feature:
* Elaborately sculpted dragon-like heads
* Horns, whiskers and detailed facial features
* Ornate bodies with swirling decorative patterns
* Large curled tails
* Four clawed feet
* Dark aged bronze/brass-tone finish
* Intricate cast detailing throughout
* Matching pair
The figures are hollow cast, as shown in the underside photographs. The undersides and bottoms of the feet have the rough, unfinished appearance typical of cast decorative metalwork.
Approximate size: 7–8 inches long each.
Condition: Good vintage/used condition with an attractive aged patina. There are areas of surface wear, discoloration and casting irregularities consistent with age and previous use. Please examine all photographs carefully, as the photos are an important part of the description.
Please note: I am describing these as Chinese-style/Qilin-type mythical beasts based on their appearance and am not representing them as authenticated antique Chinese bronzes. No maker’s mark or provenance is currently known.
A striking matching pair for an Asian-inspired interior, collector of mythical beasts, or decorative arts collection.
Sold as a pair.
