Beautiful vintage Neoclassical Revival pedestal tazza / compote, featuring an ornate gilt-metal bowl raised on a decorative pedestal with a white marble plinth and pierced architectural base.The shallow bowl has a wonderfully sculptural form with a scalloped rim, scrolling side handles and richly textured detailing. The pedestal is decorated with classical acanthus-style ornament and rests upon a square white marble block above an elaborate pierced gilt-metal base with four feet.The design draws heavily from French Louis XVI and Neoclassical decorative arts, making this a striking small-scale accent for an antique-filled or collected interior.Believed to date to approximately the mid-20th century, c. 1950s–1970s. The underside is impressed “A3023”, apparently a model or casting number. No maker or country-of-origin mark has been identified.Details:* Vintage, approximately c. 1950s–1970s
* Gilt metal with white marble/stone plinth
* Neoclassical / Louis XVI Revival styling
* Approximately 6” tall

Good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear throughout. The gilt finish shows areas of rubbing, oxidation, discoloration and patination consistent with age and use. The interior of the bowl also shows surface wear and spotting. Please review photographs closely, as they form an important part of the condition description. The aged finish has intentionally not been aggressively polished.A particularly handsome little piece for styling on a mantel, console, bookshelf or stack of antique books, and equally attractive displayed empty as a sculptural object.
