ABOUT CLOTHING ITEM
This is a vintage circa 1930s-50s Japanese Firefighter’s Jacket known as a Hanten or Hikeshi-Banten jacket/happi. The Jacket features the traditional Matoi standard graphic on the inside of the jacket (marking the specific firefighting team) with tred stripes down the shoulders and sleeves and white strips at the waist.
The back of the jacket features a large symbol roughly translated to ‘Group Leader’. The jacket features a wuikted heavy cotton weave which provided durability and water absorption. This is a beautiful piece of history in almost pristine condition and vibrancy.VINTAGE CONDITION
