Charming vintage handcrafted miniature wood pueblo village sculpture featuring an unusual and intricate construction.
The small Southwestern-style village is formed from natural wood with the bark incorporated into the design as rooftops and terrain. The pale exposed wood creates the walls of the buildings, which feature tiny individually cut door and window openings.
Especially interesting is the underside, which reveals the complex layered, hollowed and scroll-sawn construction used to create the buildings. Small red wooden pegs are also incorporated into the construction. Their exact purpose is unknown, but they appear to be original to the piece.
Measures approximately 5 1/2" x 3 1/2" at the base.
Unsigned; maker and exact origin are unknown. The architectural design is reminiscent of Southwestern adobe/pueblo buildings; no specific pueblo, artist or tribal attribution is being made.
Good vintage condition with natural bark texture, wood grain, checking and irregularities consistent with a handmade piece. Please examine photos closely as they are part of the description.
A wonderful little piece of Southwestern-inspired folk art with particularly interesting craftsmanship and construction.
