Unlike standard rounded scoops, the Model 33 utilized a flat, triangular internal wiper blade attached to a geared rod. When the operator depressed the thumb lever stamped with \"Gilchrist\'s No. 33\", the geared rack rotated the internal blade 180 degrees along the inner wall of the cone. This swift sweep completely sheared the ice cream from the brass walls, releasing a perfect pyramid-shaped portion without crushing it.
