Offered here from the dougfinds collection of curatedfashion, accessories, clothing, collectibles, and unique gifts is this beautiful vintage GeorgesBriard Imperial Brocadeporcelain teapot with its original bent bamboo overhead handle.
Unlike manydecorative teapots inspired by Asian motifs, this design carries documentedhistorical inspiration. The original backstamp identifies the pattern as \"Imperial Brocade,\"an authentic reproduction of a nineteenth-century Japanese Kutani porcelaindesign known as Akaki-KingaKutani, dating to approximately 1849 and reproduced from the privatecollection of celebrated designer GeorgesBriard.
Thecombination of brilliant red brocade decoration, white porcelain, golddetailing, and genuine bent bamboo creates one of Briard\'s most recognizableMid-Century Modern Asian-inspired designs.
One of thehighlights of this example is its remarkably well-preserved bamboo handle.Because bamboo naturally dries and becomes fragile with age, surviving examplesoften show significant cracking or replacement handles. This original handleremains complete, secure, and displays beautifully.
Whetherdisplayed in a Mid-Century Modern interior, Asian-inspired collection,or Georges Briard display, this piece offers both decorative appeal andcollectible significance.
A wonderfuladdition for collectors of Georges Briard, vintage Japanese porcelain,Mid-Century Modern décor, or Kutani-inspired ceramics.
