Vintage Elie Sheets Martha Washington Candies Advertising Box
This original one-pound candy box was produced by the Elie Sheets Candies Company of Baltimore during the company’s nationwide expansion in the late 1920s to early 1930s. The lid features portraits of George and Martha Washington with elegant gold graphics proclaiming “Originated in 1900” and “Mother of American Candies.”
One side displays an illustration of Mount Vernon, while another lists the company’s regional kitchens located in Washington, Baltimore, Chicago, Lancaster, Denver, Kansas City, Fort Worth, Salt Lake, and San Francisco.
This is an authentic period advertising package that would make an excellent addition to a candy advertising, paper ephemera, Baltimore history, or Americana collection.
