This is a vintage, hand-carved African wooden bowl (often used as a decorative platter or serving tray) featuring an intricate, double-map motif of the African continent.
Design & Pattern: The interior features two stylized silhouettes of the continent of Africa carved into a solid block of dark wood. The negative space surrounding the maps is filled with a dense, textured pattern reminiscent of traditional animal print or tribal stippling, likely created using a pyrography (wood-burning) or hand-gouging technique.
Handles: It includes two integrated, open handles carved directly into the ends of the single wood block.
Dimensions: The entire tray measures approximately 15.5 inches (approx. 40 cm) in total length from handle to handle.
These artisan items are typically crafted from regional hardwoods like jacaranda, olive wood, or mahogany, and are highly popular as global-inspired home decor accents, catch-all dishes, or tabletop centerpieces.
