Vintage 70s TRADER VIC'S Waikiki RISQUE' Lady WHISKEY Glass LIBBEY Script L Mark
Description:Up for sale is a highly collectible, authentic vintage Trader Vic's Waikiki "Risqué Lady" Whiskey Glass. This iconic piece of mid-century tiki history dates back to the opening era of the famous International Market Place location in Honolulu, Hawaii (circa 1970).The base features the authentic embossed Libbey "Script L" maker's mark, verifying this as a genuine piece of vintage commercial restaurant ware, not a modern reproduction.
Today, I present - The classic and highly sought after WAHINE IN BARREL !!!
This double old fashioned whiskey glass was manufactured for Trader Vic's in Waikiki. It is apparently one of 3 designs based on the early menu images. This one features a woman with red flowers in her hair wearing nothing but a rum barrel after loosing her clothes.
The other 2 designs are a similar colorful style, one features a beach bum sitting on crates and watching the woman, the other one features the man actually chasing the woman. These double old fashioned glasses are famous for featuring whimsical, slightly risqué illustrations taken directly from the vignettes on the cover of the 1960s/1970s Trader Vic's Waikiki drink menu. The full set consists of six glasses featuring three distinct, continuous comedic designs (two of each design per set):
* The Wahine: A woman (wahine) with red flowers in her hair wearing nothing but a rum barrel. THIS ONE !!!* The Beach Bum: A man sitting on crates watching the woman.* The Chase: The man actively chasing the woman.
Because they were exclusive to the Hawaii restaurant and printed decades ago, these graphic rocks glasses are incredibly scarce and highly sought after by tiki culture enthusiasts and vintage barware collectors.
Measures about 5-1/2 inches tall and about 3-1/2 inches across.
