Looking for a genuine piece of American knife history? Here’s a real original Gerber Mark II (MK2) Survival Knife made in Portland, Oregon in 1977.
Serial number 057233 falls squarely in the 1977 production run (approx. 054435–063648). These were still being made with the classic L6 tool-steel blade before Gerber switched to stainless later on.
What you get:
• Original Gerber Mark II with the distinctive wide wasp-waist blade and coarse serrations near the guard
• Gray Armorhide aluminum handle with the original black guard and pommel
• Clear Gerber “Sword in Stone” logo + “PORTLAND ORE. USA” stamp on the blade
• Matching original brown leather sheath stamped “GERBER PORTLAND ORE. 97223 U.S.A.”
• Black paracord wrap still present on the sheath
Condition notes (honest and accurate):
This knife has been used and shows the honest wear you’d expect from a nearly 50-year-old tool. Blade has some surface discoloration and light scratches. Handle has scuffs and a few paint chips. Sheath is original leather with age, some surface wear, and the original stitching and brass snap. Still solid and functional. No cracks, no major damage, no modifications.
This is an authentic 1970s production Gerber Mark II — not a modern reissue. These early serial-numbered examples are getting harder to find complete with the original sheath.
