Fantastic original vintage wallpaper roll, likely dating from the late 1960s to 1970s.A particularly unusual novelty design featuring antique-style tobacco, cigar, shoe-shine and general-store advertising imagery against a wonderfully period olive green background.
The pattern incorporates Victorian and early American advertising-inspired graphics including tobacconist signs, cigar and candy labels, shoe-shine advertising, illustrated shop figures, botanical tobacco imagery and old newspaper-style ephemera.Colours include olive green, burnt orange, turquoise, cream, black and muted yellow, giving it a very distinctive late mid-century / 1970s appearance. The surface has a lightly embossed, leather-like texture and appears to be a vintage vinyl-coated or washable wallpaper over a paper backing.Approximately 50cm wide. The roll appears to contain a substantial amount of unused wallpaper, however I have not completely unrolled it or measured the total length. It is therefore being sold exactly as shown and no specific total length is guaranteed. The wallpaper has been stored rolled for many years and shows age-related wear. There are some marks, scuffs, edge wear and small areas of surface loss visible on the exposed section. The inner layers appear substantially protected by the roll. Please study all photographs carefully for condition.A brilliant surviving piece of retro interior design and far more interesting than a conventional floral or geometric wallpaper of the period.Ideal for:
1970s interior restoration Retro bar or home bar décor Feature walls Shop or café interiors Film and theatre set dressing Collage and mixed-media artwork Framing individual sections Vintage advertising collectors Mid-century and retro design collections
The imagery includes period representations associated with historic tobacco advertising and is offered as an original vintage decorative design.Approximate width: 50cm
