Up for sale is a beautiful, low-serial-number 1969 Apollo 11 "Man-on-the-Moon" Certified Medal and Philatelic Presentation Set. Produced by 99 Enterprises, this historical piece beautifully honors the crew of Apollo 11 and mankind’s first steps on the lunar surface.
This special combination display set features two rare cancellation dates and an authentic sterling silver medal embedded into the presentation card.
🔍 What’s Included in this Lot:
1. The Sterling Silver Medal (39mm): Features an astronaut stepping onto the lunar surface on the obverse. The reverse is elegantly inscribed: "The Eagle Lands... 7-20-69 Footprints of Mankind... and Horizons Forever Change."
2. Double Postmarked Philatelic Display:
• Cape Canaveral, FL Cancellation: Stamped right on the front over the medal window on the exact landing day: July 20, 1969.
• Official First Day of Issue (FDC) Cover: The back side serves as an official First Day of Issue envelope from Washington, D.C. (September 9, 1969) featuring the iconic 10-cent "First Man on the Moon" Air Mail postage stamp.
3. Original Documentation: Includes the original printed historical context sheets detailing the certificate of medal and the significance of the "die" carried to the moon by the Apollo 11 crew.
4. Serial Number: This specific piece is strictly limited edition and individually stamped with Serial #04560 on the back panel.
5. Bonus Token: Also includes a separate companion Apollo 11 commemorative token in a cardboard flip.
Condition Notes:
The silver medal exhibits beautiful, authentic vintage toning around the rim edges from long-term storage in its original housing. The paper presentation envelope and certificate pages show mild, age-appropriate edge wear but are remarkably well-preserved for being over 50 years old. Please inspect the high-resolution photos closely, as they show the exact item you will receive.
