I went back home (PA) to visit last month and came back with two more vintage CUTCO items that were my Uncles. This is the second listing: Vintage CUTCO "The American Frontiersman" Two-Knife Collector's Set. With the original *locking* wooden display case, and a sharpening stone. My Uncle bought this when it came out in the 1970s, hung it on the wall at his house, and it has been up on the wall up until I took it down last month. Beautiful all the way around. *Locking*? When I was back home with this, I realized my Aunt did not give me the key, which clearly the case needed a key. I took a tiny screwdriver and took the four tiny screws out of the locking plate so I could look everything over. CUTCO shipped these one of two ways: One being the key was taped onto the back of the display case, or Two the key was inside the case. That is the way my Uncle received this set, my Aunt said he never opened it, or attempted to open it. He received it and hung it on the wall immediately. I found the key down between the plaque and sharpening stone. I really do not think it actually unlocks the display case, or the display case really wasn't meant to be opened and closed, beings the key was placed inside and shipped out that way. But: I did not put the key back inside, I have it taped to the back of the case, ( As shown in the pictures ), you can always open it back up and put the key back inside if you choose to.
