Up for sale is a beautiful, exceptionally heavy, and highly collectible set of vintage Wall Street \"Bull and Bear\" stock market bookends. This classic set features stylized solid brass charging bull and standing bear figurines securely mounted on thick, angular blocks of polished green marble. They were originally awarded as an official corporate gift directly to an employee working within the brokerage field in the late 1980s.
The brass figures have been recently lightly cleaned and polished with Brasso, successfully removing decades of old, dried-on cleaner residue to reveal a bright, high-polished shine. The metal surfaces show minor vintage wear, light surface marks, and natural pitting consistent with age and the original sand-casting process; this includes minor factory texture in the bear\'s eyes, a patch of deeper age-related pitting on the bull\'s right cheek/jawline, and a typical vintage casting line near the base of the bull\'s horn. The natural green veined marble blocks are heavy and structurally sound, showing typical minor vintage edge wear from a 40-year lifespan. This includes a couple of minor \"flea bite\" chips along the front right vertical edge of the bull\'s base, and a cluster of small, bright impact chips on the front right corner of the bear\'s base directly under his nose. Please note that these statues feature matching \"IDEX Mutual Funds\" brass plates on both sides of the bases. Three of the plates remain firmly and securely attached, while only one single plate on the bear bookend is currently loose and temporarily held in place with clear tape. This specific plate will need to be permanently re-glued or secured by the new owner, or all plates can be easily removed entirely if the buyer prefers a clean, unbranded brass-and-marble look. Please see photos.
