Moonspinner [T-145] is a classic paddle-style coin effect released by Tenyo in 1990, created by Tomoyuki Shimomura. It uniquely blends an optical illusion with a physical coin production.
The Effect
1. The Optical Illusion: The magician introduces a paddle featuring a spiral, hypnotic pattern. Moving the paddle slowly in a circular motion creates a striking optical illusion—a ghost-like image of a coin appears to materialize right on the disk.
2. The Materialization: As the motion stops, the optical coin vanishes, only to reappear when spun again.
3. The Climax: In an instant, the visual illusion turns into physical reality as an actual, solid coin materializes onto the paddle. The coin can immediately be removed and handed out for complete examination.
