Smithsonite, blue, \"rice\", San Antonio mine, Santa Eulalia, Chihuahua, Mexico: $125.00
Apologies for the somewhat confusing photo\'s on this one... It was sunny out and figured the color on this specimen would pop out, but the light and shadows create a somewhat busy constellation. But yep, you\'re looking at deep blue, maybe greenish in certain light... so called \"rice grain\" habit of Smithsonite, from the San Antonio mine, in the Santa Eulalia district in Chihuahua. Now rarely seen for sale, but over time, a few notable finds at this mine produced Smithsonites with a wonderful green and blue coloration, sometimes rivaling or surpassing the color intensity of the ones from New Mexico. This specimen is from an old dealer stock, and has that desired deep color saturation. I would call it blue, but as often the case with Smithsonite, certain light sources make it veer a little into a deep light greenish blue. Some Hemimorphite, masses of white crystals on the matrix as well, which is typical for the locality. Just a rare specimen, as this locality is just not seen that much for sale today...This specimen is 1 7/8 oz in weight, or 54 grams. The size is 6.5 cm x 6 cm x 1 cm. Please be advised, I ship with Ground Advantage.
