This is a scarce 19th Century sepia composite (merging 2 photos to create one) photo of Abraham Lincoln on card. Believe this was done just after his death. It is 19th Century. Measures about 8\" x 7\". What is interesting about this photo is that it was done before AI and Photoshop. After Lincoln\'s death, demand for his likeness was in high demand. There were not many full length photos of him. William Pate took a head shot of Lincoln and superimposed it the standing body of John C Calhoun. Creating this composite print around 1865. One of the first political \"photoshopped\" composite photos. Another interesting fact is, of course Lincoln was against slavery, and John C Calhoun was Southerner and a supporter of slavery. Putting both into a composite piece made this famous as America\'s first major \"deepfake\" or \"Photoshop\" scene. Unmarked. I do believe this is an early original piece. It was later reproduced in the late 19th Century to early 20th Century but usually marked. This is unmarked, the correct size, on card, and has the age of the original early composite prints. Selling as-is. Antique. Over 100 years old. Only fair to good condition for age. The piece has slightly rounded corners. There are some scratches as pictured.
