š Description
Up for sale is a Rare Vintage Sosaku Kokeshi Doll by Master Hiroe Fukushima (ē¦å³¶ ę±Ŗę±), created in Japan during the 1970s. Fukushima is one of the few notable female kokeshi artists, producing work only during a brief period in the late 1960sā1970s. Because of her short career and distinct style, her dolls are highly prized by collectors and increasingly difficult to find.
This charming doll features Fukushimaās signature aesthetic:
The style intentionally evokes the spirit of prewar kokeshi, widely cherished in Japanese folk art communities.
Crafted from dense Zelkova wood, this kokeshi is notably heavy and solidāan indicator of high craftsmanship. The bottom carries the artistās handwritten signature.
A beautiful, rare example of creative (sÅsaku) kokeshi art.
