Vintage pewter desk model of a Sabena (Belgian national airline) Savoia‑Marchetti S.73 trimotor airliner, registration "OO‑AGP" cast into the wings. Made by Les Potstainiers Hutois, the well-known pewter workshop of Huy, Belgium (founded 1949), in their signature lead-free "Finstain" alloy (94% pure tin) — both marks are engraved on the underside of the wings.
The registration commemorates a real Sabena aircraft with a notable history: its pilot, Max Wenner, vanished from the plane in January 1937, and the aircraft itself was later seized and dismantled by German forces after the 1940 invasion of Belgium.
Solid cast pewter, three-engine high-wing design with detailed propellers, cockpit and passenger windows and tail fin. Natural aged patina with light surface wear consistent with age (see photos).
Dimensions: 2.75" wingspan x 2.25" length
A wonderful piece for any Sabena, Belgian aviation, or interwar airliner collection.
