Offered for your consideration is an exceptional, authentic piece of early American military history: an original, pre World War I Type 1 U.S. Army National Guard "Revolver Expert" Qualification Badge, complete with three consecutive year bars for 1911, 1912 and 1913. This ealy multi-piece badge features a classic starburst/cogwheel pattern pendant highlighting a crisp relief depiction of the Colt M1892 service revolver. Suspended above the main pendant are three consecutive, highly desirable qualification year bars. These badges were specifically produced in rich bronze finish to denote National Guard service prior to the standardization changes of 1914. It is marked "The Hayes Bros Co" on the reverse. Pieces with consecutive pre-war bars and crisp manufacturer hallmarks are incredibly scarce. In excellent original antique condition, the bronze finish has aged into a wonderful, untouched chocolate patina that displays well. All structural chains loops are tight, unrepaired and original. The hallmark on the reverse is fully legible and sharp. The pin and clasp are fully intact and functional and the ribbon remains in great condition for its age. A great looking example of this hard to find U.S. Army National Guard badge!
