This vintage pocket knife is from the R.M.S Alaunia, a Cunard ocean liner. Originally launched in 1913 it was requisitioned by the British navy as a troop carrier shortly after. It saw action during the Gallipoli campaign and was eventually sunk by a mine in the English channel October 19 1916. The Cunard line relaunched a new Alaunia in 1925 this ship was used as a troop carrier during World War II,it was scrapped in 1957. From patina on knife, it is hard to spell out who the maker is, ch&Hall or Chashall. Additionally, it looks like origin is sheffeild, but again, due to patina, it is hard to read.very a very rare and unique piece of maritime history.
