Offered for your consideration is a highly scarce, authentic 19th-century Sheffield-style Half-Folding Extension Bowie Knife. Measuring 9.5 inches when fully extended, this style of folding weapon represents a brilliant era of mechanical frontier utility popular from the 1850s through the 1880s, and heavily favored during the American Civil War. Up for sale is an exceptional, authentic 19th-century \"Half-Folding\" Bowie Knife (also historically known as an English clasp knife or extension folding knife). This piece dates to the mid-to-late 1800s, an iconic style heavily favored by soldiers and frontiersmen during the American Civil War era.
Excellent mechanical condition. The blade utilizes a very heavy, rigid backspring slipjoint mechanism that locks completely open.
This knife is in the original condition that I found it. I have not oiled it, cleaned it, etc….
As always, photos are part of the description. Please notice tip.
Thanks for your interest.
