Offered here is a beautiful and unusual pre-1960s Charatan’s Make 0120 estate pipe, made in London, England.The “CHARATAN’S MAKE / LONDON ENGLAND” nomenclature and other characteristics place this example in Charatan’s pre-Lane era, prior to the early 1960s. This makes it an especially interesting example from the earlier period of Charatan production.This pipe has an exceptionally long, slender shank paired with a tall, ruggedly textured bowl. The warm reddish-brown finish and old-school proportions give it tremendous character, while the 0120 shape number identifies a particularly unusual long-form Charatan.The shank is clearly stamped:

0120The pipe has been carefully cleaned and polished while preserving its vintage character and nomenclature. The bowl displays a pronounced rugged texture, while the exceptionally long shank carries a noticeably lighter texture.
The rim shows some age, use, and darkening, all of which are shown clearly in the photographs. The chamber has been cleaned and retains some carbon appropriate for a vintage smoked pipe.
The black saddle stem cleaned up beautifully and shows very light evidence of previous use. There is no CP logo or other visible Charatan marking on the stem, so the stem cannot be verified as original. Its fit and proportions are shown clearly in the photographs and are perfect.Overall, this is a striking early, pre-1960s Charatan with an unusual 0120 shape, long proportions and loads of vintage English-pipe character.
