About This Piece:This is a substantial and museum-quality example of British studio pottery by the late Phil Rogers. Rogers was a master of the Anglo-Oriental tradition, and this jar demonstrates his technical skill with both form and glaze. The piece features a classic \"Nuka\" style ash glaze with beautiful vertical drips over a rich, toasted stoneware body.
Markings:The base is clearly impressed with two distinct seals:
\"PR\" personal seal: Phil Rogers\' individual maker\'s mark.
Tree/Branch seal: The official mark for his Marston Pottery studio in Wales.
Condition Report:Excellent vintage condition. This piece is pristine with no chips, cracks, \"flea bites,\" or repairs. The lid fits perfectly into the recessed flange. As this is a hand-thrown studio piece, there are natural glaze variations and minor \"beauty marks\" from the firing process which are characteristic of Rogers\' work and highly desired by collectors.
